Detective Stephen D. McCormick brings to MKD 24 year's experience with the Toronto Police Service, primarily in the fields of covert operations, personal protection and surveillance. A highly trained specialist in covert operations, Steve's duties placed him at the forefront of several national and international criminal investigations, ranging from murder cases to arms dealing. His broad expertise allowed him to penetrate and dismantle organized crime organizations as an undercover operator. He also headed the elite Special Investigative Services (SIS) Surveillance Unit which was primarily responsible for tracking and locating dangerous fugitives. Steve's utilization of unique and imaginative surveillance techniques has afforded his team an unparalleled success rate in apprehending foreign fugitives. These successes earned him recognition from Canadian international law enforcement agencies, as well as in the international media, including America's Most Wanted and Reader's Digest magazine. Among the many assets Steve brings to MKD's clients, is his experience as a member of the Emergency Task Force (SWAT), where he received specialized training in high risk confrontations. A former Toronto Police Services Detective, Tom Klatt established himself as an expert investigator during his 19 year career. As a homicide detective, Tom was involved in more than 70 murder investigations and had one of the highest clearance rates in Canada. He received specialized training and developed an expertise in crime scene profiling and statement analysis. Throughout his career, he was involved in several high-profile international murder cases and is recognized worldwide as a professional investigator. He remains an honorary member of the Toronto Homicide Squad Alumni. In addition to his skills as a homicide detective, Tom worked for the Intelligence Bureau and the Drug Squad where for several years he conducted covert criminal investigations into organized crime groups and international narcotics syndicates. During his period, Tom acquired substantial expertise in surveillance, undercover operations, substance abuse awareness and money laundering techniques. Detective James Downs (Ret.) is a former detective with the Toronto Police Services, specializing in organized crime, narcotics and complex criminal investigations. During his 22 year career, Jim built up an international intelligence network throughout North, South and Central America and in the Eastern Bloc countries. While attached to the Intelligence Bureau, Jim headed the organized crime tactical unit, specializing in the monitoring and prosecution of organized crime figures and motorcycle gang members. He is an expert in surveillance/counter-surveillance and covert operations. Jim has developed an expertise in complex case management and witness interviewing. This expertise was most prevalent while directing one of Canada's largest professional sports fraud investigations, a two year international project that resulted in several convictions. Jim holds a certificate in international terrorism studies and has practical experience in the field of personal protection of dignitaries and high-profile entertainers. He is also the recipient of numerous recognition's, awards and commendations for his services with the Toronto Police Service.
